Article L1243-11 of the French Labour Code

Where the contractual employment relationship continues after the expiry of the fixed-term contract, the latter becomes a contract of indefinite duration.

The employee retains the seniority acquired at the end of the fixed-term contract.

The duration of the fixed-term contract is deducted from any trial period provided for in the new employment contract.

Lorsque la relation contractuelle de travail se poursuit après l’échéance du terme du contrat à durée déterminée, celui-ci devient un contrat à durée indéterminée.

Le salarié conserve l’ancienneté qu’il avait acquise au terme du contrat de travail à durée déterminée.

La durée du contrat de travail à durée déterminée est déduite de la période d’essai éventuellement prévue dans le nouveau contrat de travail.
