Article L131-25 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

Persons sued by virtue of the cheque may not raise against the bearer defences based on their personal relationship with the drawer or with previous bearers, unless the bearer, in acquiring the cheque, has acted knowingly to the detriment of the debtor.

Les personnes actionnées en vertu du chèque ne peuvent pas opposer au porteur les exceptions fondées sur leurs rapports personnels avec le tireur ou avec les porteurs antérieurs, à moins que le porteur, en acquérant le chèque, n’ait agi sciemment au détriment du débiteur.
