Article L131-27 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

An endorsement made after the protest or after the expiry of the time limit for presentation only produces the effects of an ordinary assignment.

In the absence of proof to the contrary, an undated endorsement is presumed to have been made before the protest or before the expiry of the time limit for presentation.

It is forbidden to backdate orders on pain of forgery.

L’endossement fait après le protêt ou après l’expiration du délai de présentation ne produit que les effets d’une cession ordinaire.

Sauf preuve contraire, l’endossement sans date est présumé avoir été fait avant le protêt ou avant l’expiration du délai de présentation.

Il est défendu d’antidater les ordres à peine de faux.
