The Cour nationale du droit d’asile (National Court of Asylum) comprises panels, each comprising:
1° A president appointed :
a) either by the vice-president of the Conseil d’Etat from among the members of the Conseil d’Etat or the body of administrative tribunals and administrative courts of appeal, in active service or honorary, or retired members of the Conseil d’Etat or the body of administrative tribunals and administrative courts of appeal with particular expertise in asylum law ;
b) or by the first president of the Cour des Comptes from among serving or honorary magistrates of the Cour des Comptes and regional audit chambers or retired magistrates of the Cour des Comptes or regional audit chambers with particular expertise in the field of asylum law;
3° One qualified person of French nationality, appointed by the Vice-President of the Conseil d’Etat, due to their expertise in the legal or geopolitical fields.
All the members of the judging panels take part in more than twelve days of hearings per year.
