Article L131-9 of the French Monetary and Financial Code

Cheques may be made payable at the domicile of a third party either in the locality where the drawee is domiciled or in another locality, provided that the third party is a bank or a postal cheque centre.

Moreover, this domiciliation may not be made against the will of the bearer, unless the cheque is crossed and the domiciliation takes place at the Banque de France, on the same square.

Le chèque peut être payable au domicile d’un tiers soit dans la localité où le tiré a son domicile, soit dans une autre localité, à condition toutefois que le tiers soit un banquier ou un centre de chèques postaux.

Cette domiciliation ne peut, au surplus, être faite contre la volonté du porteur, à moins que le chèque ne soit barré et que la domiciliation n’ait lieu à la Banque de France, sur la même place.
