Article L1331-15 of the French Public Health Code

Existing buildings and installations intended for a use other than housing and which are not subject to authorisation or declaration under articles L. 214-1 to L. 214-4, L. 512-1 and L. 512-8 of the French Environment Code must be equipped with a system for treating effluents other than domestic ones, appropriate to the size and nature of the activity and ensuring satisfactory protection of the natural environment.

Les immeubles et installations existants destinés à un usage autre que l’habitat et qui ne sont pas soumis à autorisation ou à déclaration au titre des articles L. 214-1 à L. 214-4, L. 512-1 et L. 512-8 du code de l’environnement doivent être dotés d’un dispositif de traitement des effluents autres que domestiques, adapté à l’importance et à la nature de l’activité et assurant une protection satisfaisante du milieu naturel.
