Article L1333-15 of the French Public Health Code

The supplier of sealed radioactive sources is required to recover, at the holder’s request, any source that it has distributed.

Before any source is distributed, the supplier must provide a financial guarantee to cover the costs of recovering and disposing of the source at the end of its useful life in the event of default.

The terms and limits of these obligations are defined by regulation.

Le fournisseur de sources radioactives scellées est tenu de récupérer, sur demande du détenteur, toute source qu’il a distribuée.

Avant toute distribution d’une source, il est tenu de constituer une garantie financière destinée à couvrir, en cas de défaillance, les coûts de la récupération et de l’élimination de la source en fin d’utilisation.

Les modalités et limites de ces obligations sont définies par voie réglementaire.
