Article L1340-2 of the French Public Health Code

The purpose of toxicovigilance is to monitor and assess the acute or chronic toxic effects on humans of exposure to an article, mixture or substance, whether natural or synthetic, available on the market or present in the environment, with a view to taking warning and preventive action.

This chapter applies subject to the provisions relating to other vigilance systems regulated by this Code.

Article L1340-2

La toxicovigilance a pour objet la surveillance et l’évaluation des effets toxiques pour l’homme, aigus ou chroniques, de l’exposition à un article, à un mélange ou à une substance, naturelle ou de synthèse, disponibles sur le marché ou présents dans l’environnement, aux fins de mener des actions d’alerte et de prévention.

Le présent chapitre s’applique sous réserve des dispositions relatives aux autres systèmes de vigilance réglementés par le présent code.
