The fire and rescue services in Corsica may decide, by concordant deliberations of their board of directors, to create a Corsican public fire and rescue establishment.
The provisions of section 5 of this chapter apply to the Corsican public fire and rescue establishment, subject to the provisions of this article.
The creation of the public fire and rescue establishment of Corsica is the subject of an order by the representative of the State in the administrative district of the State where the establishment is to have its head office.
This order is made after consultation with the representative of the State in the other administrative district of the State concerned and the president of the executive council of Corsica.
The public fire and rescue establishment of Corsica is administered by a board of directors made up of the president(s) of the boards of directors of the fire and rescue services in Corsica and representatives, elected from their midst, of each of the boards of directors of the fire and rescue services that make it up.
The chairman of the board of directors of the public fire and rescue establishment in Corsica is elected by the board of directors from among the chairmen of the boards of directors of the fire and rescue services in Corsica for the duration of his term of office on the board of directors of the fire and rescue service. If the president of the Corsican Executive Council is president of the boards of directors of the fire and rescue services of Corse-du-Sud and Haute-Corse, he is automatically appointed president of the Corsican public fire and rescue establishment.
The representative of the State in the administrative district of the State in which the public establishment has its headquarters is automatically present at meetings of the board of directors. If a decision appears likely to affect the proper organisation of civil protection, the State representative may request a new decision.
The director of the public fire and rescue service is appointed by the chairman of the board of directors. The duties of director may be entrusted, where appropriate, to the departmental director of fire and rescue services for the administrative district of the State in which the public establishment has its headquarters.
