The rules relating to the powers of the Corsican Regional Authority in the field of tourism are set out inarticle L. 4424-31 of the General Code of Territorial Authorities, which is reproduced below:
“Art. L. 4424-31 of the General Code of Territorial Authorities.
The Corsican territorial collectivity determines and implements the guidelines for the development of tourism on the island, within the framework of the sustainable development plan.
It defines, implements and evaluates Corsica’s tourism policy and the promotional activities it intends to carry out. It collects, processes and disseminates data relating to tourism in Corsica.
It coordinates public and private initiatives in the fields of tourism development, promotion and information in Corsica.
Notwithstanding articles L. 131-3, L. 131-4 and L. 131-6 to L. 131-10 of the Tourism Code, a specialised institution is responsible, within the framework of the guidelines defined by the Corsican Regional Authority, for coordinating all tourism development initiatives in Corsica. In particular, this institution promotes tourism on the island and implements the policy of aid for the modernisation and development of reception and accommodation facilities.
This specialised institution, which is supervised by the Corsican Regional Authority, is chaired by an Executive Councillor appointed by the President of the Executive Council. The majority of its board of directors are elected representatives of the Corsican Assembly.
The specialised institution ceases to exist when the Corsican regional authority takes over the exercise of its missions. “
