Article L160-2 of the French Insurance Code

If the opposed contract is presented to the company, it will seize it and hold it in escrow until such time as a court ruling is made on the ownership of the security or the opposition is lifted.

A receipt for the seized contract shall be issued to the third party holder if he can prove his identity and domicile.

In the absence of such proof, the contract is returned to the opposing party without formality.

Article L160-2

Si le contrat frappé d’opposition vient à être présenté à l’entreprise, elle s’en saisit et en demeure séquestre jusqu’à ce qu’il ait été statué par décision de justice sur la propriété du titre ou que l’opposition soit levée.

Il est délivré récépissé du contrat saisi au tiers porteur s’il justifie de son identité et de son domicile.

A défaut de cette justification, le contrat est restitué sans formalité à l’opposant.
