Article L173-10 of the French Insurance Code

In time cover, the premium stipulated for the entire duration of the cover is earned in the event of total loss or abandonment at the insurer’s expense. If the insurer is not responsible for the total loss or surrender, the premium is earned according to the time accrued until the total loss or notification of surrender.

Dans l’assurance à temps, la prime stipulée pour toute la durée de la garantie est acquise en cas de perte totale ou de délaissement à la charge de l’assureur. Si la perte totale ou le cas de délaissement n’est pas à sa charge, la prime est acquise en fonction du temps couru jusqu’à la perte totale ou à la notification du délaissement.
