Article L183-2 of the French Insurance Code

The provisions of Article L. 183-1 may not preclude the public policy provisions of French law applicable regardless of the law governing the contract.

However, the court may give effect on the territory of the French Republic to the public policy provisions of the law of the Member State of the undertaking if the law of that State provides that these provisions are applicable regardless of the law governing the contract.

Article L183-2

Les dispositions de l’article L. 183-1 ne peuvent faire obstacle aux dispositions d’ordre public de la loi française applicables quelle que soit la loi régissant le contrat.

Toutefois, le juge peut donner effet sur le territoire de la République française aux dispositions d’ordre public de la loi de l’Etat membre de l’engagement si le droit de cet Etat prévoit que ces dispositions sont applicables quelle que soit la loi régissant le contrat.
