Article L222-2-11 of the French Sports Code

A professional athlete who participates freely, on his own behalf, in a sporting competition is presumed not to be bound to the organiser of the competition by a contract of employment.

The presumption of salaried status provided for inarticle L. 7121-3 of the French Labour Code does not apply to an athlete whose conditions of practice are defined in the first paragraph of this article.

Le sportif professionnel qui participe librement, pour son propre compte, à une compétition sportive est présumé ne pas être lié à l’organisateur de la compétition par un contrat de travail.

La présomption de salariat prévue à l’article L. 7121-3 du code du travail ne s’applique pas au sportif dont les conditions d’exercice sont définies au premier alinéa du présent article.
