Article L2242-2 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

When a gift or bequest is made to a hamlet or district that does not constitute a section of a commune, the municipal council decides whether to accept the donation.

If it is accepted, the commune manages the property in the interests of the hamlet or district concerned.

Lorsqu’un don ou un legs est fait à un hameau ou à un quartier qui ne constitue pas une section de commune, le conseil municipal statue sur l’acceptation de cette libéralité.

En cas d’acceptation, la commune gère le bien dans l’intérêt du hameau ou du quartier concerné.
