Article L232-23-1 of the French Sports Code

The College and the Sanction Committee may, if they do not consider themselves sufficiently informed in the light of the documents in the file, propose to the athlete likely to be sanctioned that he undergo an expert assessment in order to determine whether he has complied with the provisions of Article L. 232-9.

The expert assessment is carried out by an expert chosen by the athlete from a list drawn up by the Agency. The results of the expert assessment are placed in the file and communicated to the person concerned, who may submit observations. The costs of the expert opinion shall be borne by the Agency.

Le collège et la commission des sanctions peuvent, s’ils ne s’estiment pas suffisamment informés au vu des pièces du dossier, proposer au sportif susceptible de faire l’objet d’une sanction de se soumettre à une expertise afin de déterminer s’il a respecté les dispositions de l’article L. 232-9.

L’expertise est réalisée par un expert choisi par le sportif sur une liste établie par l’agence. Les résultats de l’expertise sont versés au dossier et communiqués à l’intéressé, qui peut présenter des observations. Les frais de l’expertise sont à la charge de l’agence.
