Article L311-2 of the French Tourism Code

Before carrying out any work, the tenant must notify his landlord of his intention by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. This notification must be accompanied by an execution plan and an estimate of the work planned. In the case provided for in the second paragraph of article L. 311-1, the landlord has two months to inform the tenant of his acceptance or refusal in the same way. Failure to respond is deemed to constitute agreement.

Le locataire doit, avant de procéder aux travaux, notifier son intention à son propriétaire par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception. Un plan d’exécution et un devis descriptif et estimatif des travaux projetés sont joints à cette notification. Dans le cas prévu au deuxième alinéa de l’article L. 311-1, le propriétaire dispose d’un délai de deux mois pour informer dans la même forme le locataire de son acceptation ou de son refus. Le défaut de réponse est réputé valoir accord.
