In their claim for compensation, victims or their heirs must provide proof of having been infected by the human immunodeficiency virus and of having received transfusions of blood products or injections of blood-derived products.
An acknowledgement of receipt is sent to the claimant.
Victims or their heirs shall provide the Office with all the information at their disposal.
Within a period of three months from receipt of the claim, which may be extended at the request of the victim or their heirs, the Office will examine whether the conditions for compensation have been met; it will investigate the circumstances of the contamination and carry out any investigations, without being bound by professional secrecy.
If the Office accepts the evidence referred to in the first paragraph of this article, it must pay one or more advance payments within one month if so requested.
