Article L313-52 of the French Consumer Code

No compensation or costs other than those mentioned in article L. 313-51 may not be charged to the borrower in the event of default as provided for in this article.
However, in the event of default by the borrower, the lender may claim reimbursement from the borrower, subject to justification, of the taxable costs incurred by the lender as a result of the borrower’s default, to the exclusion of any flat-rate reimbursement of collection costs.

Article L313-52

Aucune indemnité ni aucun coût autres que ceux qui sont mentionnés à l’article L. 313-51 ne peuvent être mis à la charge de l’emprunteur dans les cas de défaillance prévus par les dispositions de cet article.
Toutefois, le prêteur peut réclamer à l’emprunteur, en cas de défaillance de celui-ci, le remboursement, sur justification, des frais taxables qui lui ont été occasionnés par cette défaillance à l’exclusion de tout remboursement forfaitaire de frais de recouvrement.
