Article L313-60 of the French Consumer Code

In the event of default by the lessee in the performance of a contract governed by this section, the lessor shall be entitled to demand, in addition to the payment of rents due and unpaid, compensation which, without prejudice to the application of Article 1231-5 du code civil, may not exceed an amount depending on the remaining term of the contract and set according to a scale determined by decree.
In the case of hire purchase, the lessor may only demand the return of the property after reimbursement of the portion of the sums paid corresponding to the capital value of the property.

Article L313-60

En cas de défaillance du preneur dans l’exécution d’un contrat régi par la présente section, le bailleur est en droit d’exiger, outre le paiement des loyers échus et non réglés, une indemnité qui, sans préjudice de l’application de l’article 1231-5 du code civil, ne peut excéder un montant dépendant de la durée restant à courir du contrat et fixé suivant un barème déterminé par décret.
En cas de location-vente, le bailleur ne peut exiger la remise du bien qu’après remboursement de la part des sommes versées correspondant à la valeur en capital de ce bien.
