Article L3142-81 of the French Labour Code

At the employee’s request, the period of absence is deducted from the period of paid annual leave up to the limit of the entitlement acquired in this respect on the date of the first ballot.

If they are not deducted from annual paid leave, absences are not remunerated. In such cases, they may be recovered in agreement with the employer.

Sur demande du salarié, la durée des absences est imputée sur celle du congé payé annuel dans la limite des droits qu’il a acquis à ce titre à la date du premier tour de scrutin.

Lorsqu’elles ne sont pas imputées sur le congé payé annuel, les absences ne sont pas rémunérées. Elles donnent alors lieu à récupération en accord avec l’employeur.
