The delegated sports federations take out personal insurance policies for their licence-holders on the list of top-level sportsmen and women mentioned in the first paragraph of article L. 221-2, covering any bodily injury they may suffer as a result of an accident occurring in the course of their top-level sporting activities. A decree sets the minimum amount of cover to be taken out by the federations.
These contracts may only be concluded following a competitive tendering process.
The delegated sports federations are not subject to the obligation to take out the insurance defined in the first paragraph of this article when their licence holders on the list of top-level sportsmen and women mentioned in the same first paragraph are already covered by the same type and amount of insurance.
The licence-holders on this list are informed of the amount of cover taken out by the federation for them under the agreement provided for in article L. 221-2-1. This agreement also mentions, where applicable, the amount of cover taken out by the aforementioned licence holders or by their employer or any other third party.
Taking out personal insurance policies exempts delegated sports federations from their obligation to provide the information set out in article L. 321-4 with regard to their licence-holders on the aforementioned list of elite sportsmen and women.
