When the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons, as part of the examination to determine whether the asylum application is not inadmissible or manifestly unfounded, considers that the asylum seeker, in particular because of his/her minority or the fact that he/she has been the victim of torture, rape or another serious form of psychological, physical or sexual violence, requires special procedural guarantees that are not compatible with his/her presence in the waiting area, the application is terminated. The foreign national is then issued with an eight-day regularisation visa. Within this period, the competent administrative authority will issue him/her, at his/her request, with an asylum application certificate enabling him/her to lodge this application with the Office.
