Article L412-11 of the French Consumer Code

In establishments holding an on-trade or take-away licence or a restaurant licence, consumers are informed, by means of a legible display on menus, wine lists or any other medium, of the origin and, where applicable, the name of the protected designation of origin or protected geographical indication of the wines offered for sale in bottle, jug or glass form.

The detailed rules for the application of this article are laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat after the European Commission has declared the obligation laid down in this article to be compatible with European Union law.

Article L412-11

Dans les établissements titulaires d’une licence de débit de boissons à consommer sur place ou à emporter ou d’une licence de restaurant, les consommateurs sont informés, par un affichage lisible sur les menus, les cartes des vins ou tout autre support, de la provenance et, le cas échéant, de la dénomination de l’appellation d’origine protégée ou de l’indication géographique protégée des vins mis en vente sous forme de bouteille, de pichet ou de verre.

Les modalités d’application du présent article sont fixées par décret en Conseil d’Etat après que la Commission européenne a déclaré compatible avec le droit de l’Union européenne l’obligation prévue au présent article.
