Article L421-25 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When they are admitted to reside in France in accordance with articles L. 421-22 or L. 421-23, the spouse of the foreign national mentioned in article L. 421-12 and the children of the latter in the year following their eighteenth birthday or falling within the provisions of article L. 421-35, may be issued with a resident card bearing the words “long-term resident-EU” under the conditions set out in article L. 426-17.
The decision to grant this resident card is subject to compliance with the conditions of republican integration set out in article L. 413-7.

Lorsqu’ils sont admis au séjour en France conformément aux articles L. 421-22 ou L. 421-23, le conjoint de l’étranger mentionné à l’article L. 421-12 et les enfants de ce dernier dans l’année qui suit leur dix-huitième anniversaire ou entrant dans les prévisions de l’article L. 421-35, peuvent se voir délivrer une carte de résident portant la mention ” résident de longue durée-UE ” dans les conditions prévues à l’article L. 426-17.
La décision d’accorder cette carte de résident est subordonnée au respect des conditions d’intégration républicaine prévues à l’article L. 413-7.
