The decisions of the Disciplinary Board of the National Council may be appealed to the Conseil d’Etat.
When the Disciplinary Board of the National Council imposes a ban on practising the profession, it sets the starting date of the ban. Decisions handed down by this chamber are enforceable, and an appeal to the Supreme Court has no suspensive effect.
The national disciplinary chamber is presided over by a member of the Conseil d’Etat, in active service or honorary, with at least the rank of Conseiller d’Etat, appointed by the Vice-President of the Conseil d’Etat for a renewable term of six years; one or more substitutes are appointed under the same conditions.
No person may act as chairman or alternate chairman of the Disciplinary Board of the National Council if he has reached the age of seventy-seven.
The duties of chairman or alternate chairman of the Disciplinary Board of the National Council are incompatible with those provided for in article L. 4231-6.
The amount of the allowances allocated to the president or alternate president of the disciplinary chamber of the national council is set by order of the ministers responsible for the budget and health, after consultation with the association.
Their travel expenses are reimbursed under the conditions laid down in the regulations applicable to civil servants.
These allowances and expenses are paid by the national council.
