Article L431-6 of the French Consumer Code

Any person who claims that an appellation of origin is being used to his direct or indirect detriment and against his right, to a natural or manufactured product, contrary to the origin of that product, may bring legal action to have the use of that appellation prohibited.
The same action may be brought by trade unions and associations that have been regularly constituted, for at least six months, in respect of the rights they are intended to defend.
On the basis of local, fair and constant usage, the judge may delimit the geographical area of production and determine the qualities or characteristics of the product referred to in the first paragraph.

Article L431-6

Toute personne qui prétend qu’une appellation d’origine est utilisée à son préjudice direct ou indirect et contre son droit, à un produit naturel ou fabriqué, contrairement à l’origine de ce produit, peut exercer une action en justice pour faire interdire l’usage de cette appellation.
La même action peut être introduite par les syndicats et associations régulièrement constitués, depuis six mois au moins, quant aux droits qu’ils ont pour objet de défendre.
Sur la base d’usages locaux, loyaux et constants, le juge peut délimiter l’aire géographique de production et déterminer les qualités ou caractères du produit mentionné au premier alinéa.
