The national order of nurses defends the honour and independence of the nursing profession. It promotes the profession.
It may organise any mutual aid and pension schemes for the benefit of its members and their dependants.
It studies questions or projects submitted to it by the Minister of Health concerning the practice of the profession. To this end, it may consult professional associations, trade unions, nursing student associations and any approved health system user association.
In coordination with the High Authority for Health, it helps to disseminate the rules of good nursing practice to professionals and organises the evaluation of these practices.
It is involved in monitoring the demographics of the nursing profession, producing consistent statistical data and studying future trends in nursing numbers in the light of healthcare needs.
It carries out its tasks through the intermediary of the departmental or interdepartmental councils, the regional councils and the national council of the order.
