Article L432-5 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

If the foreign national ceases to fulfil one of the conditions required for the issue of the residence permit to which he or she is entitled, obstructs checks or fails to comply with summonses, the residence permit may be withdrawn from him or her by a reasoned decision. The decision to withdraw the permit may only be taken after the person concerned has been given the opportunity to present their observations under the conditions laid down in articles L. 121-1 and L. 121-2 of the Code of Relations between the Public and the Administration.
A foreigner who is involuntarily unemployed within the meaning of articles L. 421-1, L. 421-9 to L. 421-11 and L. 421-13 to L. 421-21 shall not be deemed to have ceased to fulfil the condition of activity laid down in articles L. 421-1, L. 421-9 to L. 421-11 and L. 421-13 to L. 421-21.

The decision to withdraw the permit may only be taken after the person concerned has been given the opportunity to present their observations under the conditions laid down in articles L. 121-1 and L. 121-2 of the Code of Relations between the Public and the Administration.

Si l’étranger cesse de remplir l’une des conditions exigées pour la délivrance de la carte de séjour dont il est titulaire, fait obstacle aux contrôles ou ne défère pas aux convocations, la carte de séjour peut lui être retirée par une décision motivée. La décision de retrait ne peut intervenir qu’après que l’intéressé a été mis à même de présenter ses observations dans les conditions prévues aux articles L. 121-1 et L. 121-2 du code des relations entre le public et l’administration.
N’est pas regardé comme ayant cessé de remplir la condition d’activité prévue aux articles L. 421-1, L. 421-9 à L. 421-11 et L. 421-13 à L. 421-21 l’étranger involontairement privé d’emploi au sens de ces mêmes articles.
