As of 1 January 2018, the collectivity of Corsica constitutes a collectivity with special status within the meaning of Article 72 of the Constitution, in place of the territorial collectivity of Corsica and the départements of Corse-du-Sud and Haute-Corse. It administers itself freely, under the conditions set out in this title and by all other legislative provisions relating to the départements and regions not contrary to this title.
For the application to the collectivity of Corsica of the first paragraph of this article:
<1° References to the department and the region are replaced by reference to the collectivity of Corsica;
<2° References to the departmental council and the regional council are replaced by reference to the Assembly of Corsica;
3° References to the presidents of the departmental council and the regional council are replaced by reference to the president of the executive council of Corsica;
4° References to the territorial collectivity of Corsica are replaced by reference to the collectivity of Corsica.
