Article L4441-20 of the French Public Health Code

When a doctor, dental surgeon or midwife has been convicted by a criminal court, the disciplinary chamber may, if appropriate, impose one of the penalties provided for in article L. 4441-10 on him, under the conditions provided for in articles L. 4126-1 and L. 4126-2.

In order to ensure the application of the provisions of the previous paragraph, the judicial authority will immediately notify the national council of the ordre concerned of any final conviction of one of the practitioners mentioned above, including convictions handed down abroad.

Lorsqu’un médecin, un chirurgien-dentiste ou une sage-femme aura été condamné par une juridiction pénale, la chambre disciplinaire pourra prononcer s’il y a lieu, à son égard, dans les conditions prévues aux articles L. 4126-1 et L. 4126-2, une des sanctions prévues à l’article L. 4441-10

En vue d’assurer l’application des dispositions du précédent alinéa, l’autorité judiciaire avise sans délai le conseil national de l’ordre intéressé de toute condamnation devenue définitive de l’un des praticiens mentionnés ci-dessus, y compris les condamnations prononcées à l’étranger.
