Article L4531-2 of the French Labour Code

For building or civil engineering operations undertaken by municipalities or groups of municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, the project manager may be entrusted, by delegation from the project owner, with the application of the general principles of prevention provided for in the first paragraph of Article L. 4531-1 as well as the coordination rules provided for in Chapter II.

Pour les opérations de bâtiment ou de génie civil entreprises par les communes ou groupements de communes de moins de 5 000 habitants, le maître d’oeuvre peut se voir confier, sur délégation du maître d’ouvrage, l’application des principes généraux de prévention prévus au premier alinéa de l’article L. 4531-1 ainsi que les règles de coordination prévues au chapitre II.
