Article L614-7 of the French Intellectual Property Code

The text of the European patent application or the European patent drafted in the language of proceedings before the European Patent Office created by the Munich Convention shall be the authentic text.

In the event of litigation relating to a European patent the text of which is not drafted in French, the patent proprietor shall provide, at his own expense, at the request of the alleged infringer or at the request of the competent court, a full translation of the patent into French.

Le texte de la demande de brevet européen ou du brevet européen rédigé dans la langue de procédure devant l’Office européen des brevets créé par la convention de Munich est le texte qui fait foi.

En cas de litige relatif à un brevet européen dont le texte n’est pas rédigé en français, le titulaire du brevet fournit, à ses frais, à la demande du présumé contrefacteur ou à la demande de la juridiction compétente, une traduction complète du brevet en français.
