Article L6221-8 of the French Public Health Code

In response to emergency situations or a serious shortage of local supply, the Director General of the Regional Health Agency may authorise the medical biology laboratory to continue certain activities for which its accreditation has been suspended or withdrawn, for a maximum period of three months, renewable once. Its decision shall state the reasons on which it is based. The medical biology laboratory shall inform patients and medical biology laboratories of this decision when it sends them biological samples pursuant to Article L. 6211-19.

Pour répondre à des situations d’urgence ou à une insuffisance grave de l’offre locale, le directeur général de l’agence régionale de santé peut autoriser le laboratoire de biologie médicale à poursuivre certaines activités pour lesquelles son accréditation a été suspendue ou retirée, pendant une durée maximale de trois mois renouvelable une fois. Sa décision est motivée. Le laboratoire de biologie médicale informe de cette décision les patients ainsi que les laboratoires de biologie médicale lorsqu’il leur transmet des échantillons biologiques en application de l’article L. 6211-19.
