The purpose of the access to care service is to assess the health needs of any person who requests it, to provide them with appropriate advice and to arrange for care appropriate to their condition.
It provides joint medical regulation for access to care, involving the emergency medical assistance service referred to in article L. 6311-2, and ambulatory medicine regulation.
It is organised and managed by local healthcare professionals working in the outpatient sector and in healthcare establishments.
It is accessible free of charge throughout France.
With due respect for medical confidentiality, call reception and regulation centres are interconnected with police and fire and rescue service systems.
The procedures for implementing this article are laid down by regulation.
