Subject to the provisions relating to supplementary elections set out in the second paragraph of Article L. 723-11, judges of the commercial courts are elected for two years at the time of their first election. After a first term, they may be re-elected for a period of four years, in the same court or in any other commercial court.
When the term of office of commercial court judges expires before the start of the period set for the installation of their successors, they shall remain in office until such installation, although this extension may not exceed a period of three months.
