Article L7311-3 of the French Labour Code

A traveller, sales representative or sales representative is any person who:

1° Works for one or more employers;

2° Is in fact exclusively and constantly engaged in the profession of representative;

3° Does not carry out any commercial transactions on his own behalf;

4° Is bound to the employer by undertakings determining :

a) The nature of the services or goods offered for sale or purchase;

b) The region in which he carries out his activity or the categories of customers he is responsible for visiting;

c) The rate of remuneration.

Est voyageur, représentant ou placier, toute personne qui :

1° Travaille pour le compte d’un ou plusieurs employeurs ;

2° Exerce en fait d’une façon exclusive et constante une profession de représentant ;

3° Ne fait aucune opération commerciale pour son compte personnel ;

4° Est liée à l’employeur par des engagements déterminant :

a) La nature des prestations de services ou des marchandises offertes à la vente ou à l’achat ;

b) La région dans laquelle il exerce son activité ou les catégories de clients qu’il est chargé de visiter ;

c) Le taux des rémunérations.
