Article LO6314-9 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The local authority may, by deliberation of the territorial council, determine the conditions under which supplementary teaching in English is provided in the local authority’s nursery and primary schools, in order to facilitate, by taking into account the specific cultural features of Saint-Martin, the learning of the French language.

This deliberation is adopted by an absolute majority of the members of the territorial council.

La collectivité peut, par délibération du conseil territorial, déterminer les conditions dans lesquelles est dispensé dans les écoles maternelles et primaires de la collectivité un enseignement complémentaire en anglais, afin de faciliter, par la prise en compte des spécificités culturelles de Saint-Martin, l’apprentissage de la langue française.

Cette délibération est adoptée à la majorité absolue des membres du conseil territorial.
