The grand panel of the Cour nationale du droit d’asile comprises the bench hearing the appeal, supplemented by the vice-president or most senior vice-president or a section or chamber president, two assessors chosen from among the persons referred to in 2° of Article L. 131-3 and two assessors chosen from among the persons mentioned in 3° of the same article.
When the panel hearing the appeal is a single judge, this panel is completed by the vice-president or most senior vice-president or a section or chamber president, three assessors chosen from among the persons mentioned in 2° of Article L. 131-3 and three assessors chosen from among the persons mentioned in 3° of the same article.
It is chaired by the President of the Court and, if he is unable to do so, by the Vice-President or the most senior Vice-President.
The members who thus complete the panel hearing the appeal are appointed according to a table drawn up annually.
When the panel hearing the appeal is that of the President of the Court, a second president is appointed under the same conditions.
Panels of judges other than the Grand Panel may be presided over by the presidents of sections or chambers.
