Article R1321-92 of the French Public Health Code

Water made drinkable by treatment, packaged, held with a view to sale, offered for sale, sold or distributed free of charge, under one of the following sales descriptions:

1° “Water made drinkable by treatment” ;

2° “Water made drinkable by treatment with added carbon dioxide”, which refers to any water made drinkable by treatment, packaged, which has been made effervescent by the addition of carbon dioxide.

This name must be supplemented by an indication of the treatments used. Among the categories of treatments laid down by the regulations adopted in application of article L. 1321-10, this indication must show which of these treatments are actually used for the water in question.

Les eaux rendues potables par traitements, conditionnées, sont détenues en vue de la vente, mises en vente, vendues ou distribuées à titre gratuit, sous l’une des dénominations de vente suivantes :

1° ” Eau rendue potable par traitements ” ;

2° ” Eau rendue potable par traitements et avec adjonction de gaz carbonique ” qui désigne toute eau rendue potable par traitements, conditionnée, qui a été rendue effervescente par addition de gaz carbonique.

Cette dénomination doit être complétée par l’indication des traitements mis en oeuvre. Une telle indication doit rendre compte, parmi les catégories de traitements fixés par les dispositions réglementaires prises en application de l’article L. 1321-10, de ceux de ces traitements qui sont réellement utilisés pour l’eau considérée.
