In order to be classified as a tourist resort, the tourist municipalities referred to in article L. 133-11 must implement, if necessary on only a fraction of their territory, actions likely to ensure multi-seasonal frequentation and to develop resources under the conditions referred to in article L. 133-13. To this end, they must
a) Offer tourist accommodation of various types and categories;
b) For all publics and during tourist periods, offer cultural creations and events, facilitate physical and sporting activities using and respecting their heritage, natural or built resources as well as, where appropriate, those of the surrounding area and, in particular, highlight professional know-how of a traditional, historical, gastronomic or regional nature or any actions relating to seminar and business tourism or economic, industrial or technological discovery ;
c) To provide all categories of tourists with local shops and services, as well as health care facilities adapted to the tourist activities practised, either in the municipality or nearby;
d) To have a town planning document and a zoning plan for collective and non-collective sanitation, and to undertake to implement actions relating to the environment, the improvement of the living environment, the conservation of sites and monuments, public hygiene, sanitation and waste treatment;
e) Organising information for tourists, in several languages, on the activities and facilities on offer, as well as on places of tourist interest in the municipality and its surroundings, and ensuring that they have access to this information;
f) Facilitating access to and movement within the municipality for all publics by improving transport infrastructure and services, and ensuring that the tourist office and the main tourist attractions are appropriately signposted.
