Any public establishment for inter-municipal cooperation may apply for classification as a tourist resort, for one, several or all of its member municipalities, with the exception of those municipalities which are responsible for promoting tourism, including the creation of tourist offices, in accordance with the provisions of articles L. 5214-16 and L. 5216-5 of the General Local Authorities Code.
The decision of the governing body of the public inter-municipal cooperation body defines the boundaries of the area for which classification is requested.
A plan is appended to the decision if only part of a commune is included in the request for classification.
For the application of the provisions of this sub-section, the deliberative body of the public establishment for inter-municipal cooperation is substituted for the municipal council and the president of the public establishment for inter-municipal cooperation is substituted for the mayor.
