I.-The purpose of the national network for measuring environmental radioactivity is to contribute to the monitoring of public exposure to ionising radiation and to inform the public. It gathers :
1° The results of measurements of environmental radioactivity carried out by the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire and by laboratories approved under the conditions laid down in article R. 1333-26 ;
2° Summary documents on the estimated doses received by the population in France.
II.-The results of environmental radioactivity measurements included in the network are those obtained :
1° As part of the implementation of legal provisions contributing to the assessment of doses to which the population is exposed, in particular for the monitoring of exposure around nuclear activities ;
2° By the French Nuclear Safety Authority, State departments or public establishments that have measurements carried out by approved laboratories or by the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety;
3° By any local authority, association or other private body that has measurements carried out by approved laboratories or by the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety when transmission of the results to the network is requested by the body that holds the results.
The results of environmental radioactivity measurements carried out as part of research studies may be excluded from the network.
III – The objectives of the national network for measuring environmental radioactivity are set by the Nuclear Safety Authority. The network is managed by the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire.
