The laboratories for measuring radioactivity in the environment, mentioned in Article R. 1333-25, are approved by the Nuclear Safety Authority. The application for approval or renewal of approval shall be sent to the Nuclear Safety Authority together with a dossier including :
1° Information on the laboratory, its organisation, quality, activity, staff qualifications and technical performance;
2° The list and results of inter-laboratory comparison tests in which the laboratory has participated with a view to the approval it is applying for.
In the light of this dossier, and in particular the results of the laboratory’s inter-laboratory comparison tests, the Nuclear Safety Authority shall give its decision within eight months. If no response is received within this period, the application shall be deemed to have been rejected. The decision is published in the Official Bulletin of the French Nuclear Safety Authority.
A decision by the Nuclear Safety Authority, approved by the Minister in charge of radiation protection, defines the detailed list of information to be attached to the application for approval and renewal of approval, the qualification criteria met by approved laboratories and the procedures for issuing, renewing, checking, suspending or withdrawing this approval.
