I.-The person performing the procedure using ionising radiation for medical diagnosis or radioguided interventional procedures regularly assesses the doses delivered to patients and analyses the procedures performed in the light of the principle of optimisation.
The results of the assessments concerning the procedures mentioned in II are communicated to the Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire.
II -Diagnostic reference levels are established and updated by the French Nuclear Safety Authority for procedures involving radiation protection for patients, taking into account the results transmitted to the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety and the diagnostic reference levels recommended at European level. They are expressed in terms of dose for X-ray procedures and in terms of activity for nuclear medicine procedures.
III -When the diagnostic reference levels are exceeded, except in specific situations justified under the conditions laid down in Article R. 1333-56, the person performing the procedure must take the necessary steps to increase optimisation.
