The national health strategy is defined by decree for a period not exceeding ten years. This decree specifies the priority areas for action and the objectives for improving health and social protection against the consequences of illness, accident and disability, pursued by the national health strategy. It includes provisions relating to the priorities of children’s health policy.
This strategy is drawn up on the basis of an analysis of the population’s main health problems and the determinants of its state of health, as mentioned in 1° of article L. 1411-1, and of possible action strategies.
The national health strategy also includes provisions relating to the specific needs of defence, defined by the Minister of Defence in application of article L. 1142-1 of the Defence Code.
