In each region, for the implementation of the health policy guidelines defined in article L. 1411-1 contributing to the prevention of antibiotic resistance with regard to the proper use of antibiotics, a regional antibiotic therapy centre carries out the following tasks:
1° Providing expertise and support to healthcare professionals, wherever and however they practise, for actions promoting the correct use of antibiotics and the prevention of antibiotic resistance as well as, depending on epidemiological developments, the correct use of antifungal and antiviral treatments and the prevention of resistance to these treatments;
2° Coordinating and leading networks of healthcare professionals responsible for implementing programmes promoting the correct use of antibiotics.
The centre is a member of the regional vigilance and support network mentioned in article R. 1413-62. It participates in the work of this network.
