The departmental director of fire and rescue services performs the duties of director of the public establishment and head of the departmental corps. He has authority over all the personnel of the departmental or territorial fire and rescue service.
He is assisted by a deputy departmental director, head of the deputy departmental corps, who assists him or deputises for him, if necessary, in all his duties and who acts as interim director in the event of the director’s post becoming temporarily vacant.
He is also assisted by the chief medical officer of the health subdirectorate and the heads of fire and rescue groups, services and centres.
He may delegate some of his powers to his deputy, the chief medical officer and the heads of fire and rescue groups, services and centres.
