The departmental director of fire and rescue services or his deputy are in command of rescue operations throughout the territory of their department. This command may be delegated under the conditions set out in article R. 1424-43. Within this framework and to ensure the operational implementation of all the resources provided for in article L. 1424-33, the departmental director of the fire and rescue services has authority over all the personnel of the local fire and rescue services and has access to the equipment assigned to them.
The departmental director of the fire and rescue services may be entrusted by the departmental director of the fire and rescue services with the task of ensuring the operational implementation of all the resources provided for in article L. 1424-33.
He may be asked by the director of rescue operations to use any other public or private resources made available to him by this authority.
Under the authority of the prefect, the fire and rescue service is responsible for the management of the local fire and rescue services.
Under the authority of the prefect, the departmental director also supervises and coordinates the personnel and resources of the local fire and rescue services, in accordance with the provisions of article L. 1424-33. In this capacity, he may call upon all the personnel of the local fire and rescue services and have access to all the equipment assigned to them.
