Article R1454-19-2 of the French Labour Code

In accordance with the second paragraph of article 446-1 of the Code of Civil Procedure , the Judgement Bureau may exempt a party who so requests from attending a subsequent hearing. In this case, the Judgement Office organises exchanges between the parties. Communication between the parties shall be made by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or by notification between lawyers and evidence thereof shall be provided to the Judgement Office within the time limits it shall set. At the end of the last hearing, the court registry informs the parties of the date on which the judgment will be handed down.

Le bureau de jugement peut, conformément au second alinéa de l’article 446-1 du code de procédure civile , dispenser une partie qui en fait la demande de se présenter à une audience ultérieure. Dans ce cas, le bureau de jugement organise les échanges entre les parties. La communication entre elles est faite par lettre recommandée avec demande d’avis de réception ou par notification entre avocats et il en est justifié auprès du bureau de jugement dans les délais qu’il impartit. A l’issue de la dernière audience, le greffe informe les parties de la date à laquelle le jugement sera rendu.
